HORSES

I worked on my first piece about colorful horses early 2024. The Cappadocia region of Turkey is a magical place with a unique and otherworldly landscape. It's home to wild horses that roam freely amongst the fairy chimneys and interesting landforms, running in herds in the mists created by the dust raised from the ground. It was this mystical atmosphere that gave me the idea to imagine these horses with their vibrant, surreal colors and patterns - adding even more whimsy to an already magical scene. What I like to do in my work is blur the boundaries between fantasy and reality. I love creating things that appear real, but with a playful twist. I love the idea that my work serves as a portal to another world that feels completely real with a playful touch of whimsy, just waiting to be explored. After working on the first pieces, I wanted to take these horses out of the landscape and focus just on them. I wanted to capture their freedom and joy in a playful way, and highlight the poetry in their creation. Each horse has its own story to tell, and each has its own personality. They each reveal themselves in their own unique way through the colours and patterns I give them.
