BENEATH THE VEIL

“Beneath the Veil” is a series that explores the boundaries of identity, freedom, and existence within societal structures. Each portrait serves as a visual representation of the forces that shape, define, and restrict both our individual and collective identities. The words embroidered across the works such as “Prohibited,” “Controlled,” “Censored,” “Off Limits,” “Forbidden,” “Restricted,” “Silenced,” and “Shut Down” embody the social constraints we all encounter at different points in our lives. By juxtaposing delicate materials such as lace and tulle with these harsh, limiting terms, I aimed to create a contrast that prompts viewers to question how oppression is often disguised in subtle and graceful forms.

Although this series is composed of female representations and focuses on the experience of women, it ultimately aims to encourage viewers to reflect on the invisible boundaries that confine all individuals, regardless of gender.
