HORSES

I began working with these colorful horses in early 2024, initially inspired by Cappadocia, a place whose landscape already feels suspended somewhere between reality and imagination. Wild horses move through its valleys and fairy chimneys, often disappearing into the dust and mist raised beneath their feet. I wanted to imagine what might happen if that already dreamlike atmosphere were pushed just a little further, transforming the horses themselves through unexpected colors, patterns and invented surfaces.

That impulse gradually developed into a wider body of work. Some images remain connected to landscape, while others bring the horses forward as individual characters. Freed from their surroundings, each one begins to suggest a different temperament, presence and story through its colors and markings. I am interested in the tension between familiarity and invention: creating something immediately recognizable, yet altered just enough to feel as though it belongs to another version of reality.

Across my practice, I often return to the idea of art as a portal into worlds that feel almost possible. These horses embody that approach in a particularly playful way. Their freedom, physicality and emotional presence give me a familiar form through which I can explore joy, transformation, ornament and the boundary between the real and the imagined.

Since its beginnings, the series has moved beyond the studio into exhibitions, art fairs and publications. Works from the series have been presented through ArtStar at venues and fairs including Affordable Art Fair New York, ICFF, Boutique Design New York and Art Palm Beach, and were also central to solo exhibitions at Park House Dallas and Cheymore Gallery, New York.

The work has also received editorial attention within the equestrian world. In 2025, Italian publication Equestrian Time featured my work in a “Master of Photography” profile, while Polo Lifestyles featured the series on its cover alongside an interview and editorial feature. These presentations have allowed the horses to move between contemporary art, design and equestrian culture, while continuing to evolve as an open-ended body of work.
